Vehicle Wraps

Don't waste advertising space! If you have company vehicles driving around town naked, you're wasting very valuable advertising space. Company cars and trucks with vehicle wraps act as mobile billboards, reaching more potential customers than even the most well-placed signage. Wraps bring attention to the vehicles on the street and help spread your advertising message no matter what the driver is doing.

Vehicle Wrap Advertising
Add your vehicles to your sales force.

Why pay the monthly costs of billboards or transit ads when you can invest that money in vehicle graphics? Vehicle wraps not only gather more impressions, but they also cost less per lead over the life of the wrap when compared to billboards.

According to the Outdoor Advertising Association of America,

•	A city as small as 50,000 people will garner 8.4 million impressions a year from one wrapped vehicle.

•	90% of all travelers notice graphics on all wrapped vehicles.

•	75% of consumers for impressions about a company based on fleet graphics.

•	30% of all consumers base their buying decisions on impressions they receive from company vehicles.

Below are some tips for developing the most effective vehicle wrap campaign for your company.

Design

From full-color photographs to stylized illustrations, virtually anything that you or your designers can imagine can be realized in a vehicle wrap. However, there are a few guidelines you should keep in mind when creating your message:

•	Keep it brief. Like a billboard, a vehicle wrap has a limited time to make an impact. Try to budget yourself five words or less so the audience has time to read and remember what you have to say. Also, choose colors and fonts that are clear and easy to read from a distance.

•	Stick with your brand. Unless legibility is a concern, use the colors, fonts, logo and other branding elements you’ve established throughout your marketing materials. These visual cues help your audience remember your name and your message. Studies reveal that fleet advertising boosts name recognition 15 times greater than any other form of advertising.

•	Provide simple contact information. Give your audience a way to immediately contact you – either through your website or by phone.

•	Design in 360°. Remember that, for maximum effectiveness, your message and contact information should be visible on each side of the vehicle – including the front and rear.

Application

A poorly produced or installed vehicle wrap may fade, bubble, peel or crack, significantly reducing the value of your investment. Top quality 3MTM vinyl vehicle wraps can be printed in a full spectrum of vibrant color, and will not harm your vehicle’s finish. When installed by a 3M certified company, a long-term vehicle wrap should last 3-5 years.

Choosing a 3M certified vendor is important for two reasons. First, qualification for this program requires rigorous quality control and strict adherence to 3M’s material, equipment and process guidelines. A vendor who has fulfilled 3M’s requirements is likely to deliver quality results. Second, only a 3M certified company can offer the 3M MCSTM Warranty – a comprehensive warranty which provides for the credit or replacement of all 3M materials used in the graphic. Covered defects include cracking, crazing, peeling, fading, blistering, gloss changes, seam failure, mildewing, and more. A 3M MCS Warranty protects the value of your investment.

Positioning

In addition to the impressions you’ll gain simply by driving around town, there are a many opportunities to maximize your exposure. Try parking your vehicle on the edge of a parking lot, so that passing traffic can see your message. When possible, arrive early and park near the entrance of a concert or sports event. Given a little forethought, your vehicle can provide round-the-clock promotion for your brand.

For more information about vehicle wrap advertising, contact Mason Ezzell of LSI (a 3M certified company) at 901-869-7602 or visit us online at yourlsi.com.

New York City, September 11th, 2001; Madrid, Spain, March 11th, 2004; Ft. Hood, Texas, November 5th, 2009 – all days that will remain in the collective thoughts of security personnel as long as they are on duty. The Western world is in a security crisis unlike any seen before. There are people out there who are dedicated to disrupting or destroying our very way of life. Have you taken all the necessary precautions to deter them? If you are in the Security or Human Resources fields, you have undoubtedly asked yourself this question regarding the status of your organization’s preparedness.

If this question has been asked by you or your superiors, chances are your physical and logical security systems have been tested, evaluated, and maybe even improved. But what about the first line of defense, your organization’s ID Card?

Many security professionals overlook this small but vital detail, yet a properly issued and administered ID card program is the very first deterrent an organization can provide to dissuade any would-be attacker. How effective is your ID Card system in maintaining current personnel records, promoting an adequate level of security for your organization, or providing anti-counterfeit measures aimed at increased levels of physical security?

Contrary to popular opinion, ID Card systems are a lot more than expensive software, printers, and supplies used to keep students in check or employees from wandering into sensitive areas of your business. They can be designed to fit and incorporate virtually any security or HR need you may have now or in the future. Recently, with the merging of the ID and physical access control worlds, smart cards have become more prevalent and carry more and more electronic data about the individual for whom the card was issued. But, who is keeping all of that back-end data in check? A card that holds an employee ID number, account balance, or biometric fingerprint data for physical access is one thing, but what happens when that person is terminated? Will that data flow properly to alert each auxiliary system of that person’s status or will they continue to have access to sensitive areas within your organization?

Organizations large and small are increasingly looking toward third party software to play a larger role in not only badge issuance, but also the handling of critical data on the back-end. One common misconception is that a prepackaged, turnkey solution can properly interact with a company’s HR or even vending systems right out of the box. Often, these “plug-and-play” interfaces end up costing twice as much as originally quoted, while delivering less than promised.

Instead, you may want to consider badge issuance software that can be easily and inexpensively customized to fit your unique needs. The BMS (Badge Management System) software sold by LSI in Memphis, TN is one such product. Over the past 18 years LSI’s BMS has honed its niche as a back-end data interface piece that bridges the gap between HR and Security.

As you’re evaluating your organization’s requirements in terms of badge issuance, be sure to not overlook the level of overt security needed for your cards. The days of the old Polaroid cut-and-paste laminated cards are long gone. We are well over a decade into the new world of digital ID systems and over time, prices for these systems have decreased.

While price reductions are a good thing for anyone’s bottom line, they can also pose risks. Just as your costs for a new ID card system have decreased, so too has the cost for individuals wanting to gain access to your facility fraudulently. With a simple web search, anyone with a motive and a credit card can have a complete system overnighted to his door and have a knock-off card to your organization in his hands. One way to combat this risk is to customize your cardstock with anti-counterfeit measures for higher security level badges.

By adding micro text, color shifting ink, or custom holographic inlays to your organization’s ID card stock or over-laminate, you immediately create a customized solution that is difficult, if not impossible, to counterfeit. Some of these solutions require security personnel to carry an authentication device, such as a printer’s loop, UV light, etc., which can sometimes be time consuming or unrealistic. Others require nothing more than the human eye and an inside knowledge of exactly what to look for. By strategically placing a custom embedded holographic foil inside the card’s substrate or on an overlaminating film, you can create a feature that’s easy for your security personnel to spot – once they’re trained to look for it.

Unlike the generic holographic foil cards available to anyone on the market, your customized stock belongs only to you. As long as you keep your supplies secure, no counterfeiting can occur. There are drawbacks to a customized approach – the main one being population. Due to the costs associated with this type of technology, it generally doesn’t lend itself to organizations with less than 5,000 card carriers. However, if you have a relationship with a qualified dealer, a solution that fits your needs should be met. Memphis-based LSI has assisted many organizations in the creation and maintenance of their custom embedded holographic ID card systems on both a local and national level. We posses the necessary expertise to assist your organization in achieving similar results.

Taking a little time to evaluate your organization’s security needs will pay off in the long run, both in terms of equipment investment and, more importantly, in choosing an ID Card dealer. The right dealer can guide you through the vast array of brands, technology and other supplies to find a solution tailored to your needs. Do you really need the latest and greatest printer on the market when a basic unit will suffice? Will your printer require expensive proprietary supplies, or will you have the freedom to price-shop from a variety? Having or building a solid relationship with your ID/Access card provider can help you avoid many pitfalls and keep your budget intact well beyond the installation or upgrade of your new card system.

When searching for a provider, you can choose to work with Internet-based vendors who have little stake in the outcome of your installation, or with established brick-and-mortar dealers with market longevity. The latter tend to have more of an on-site presence, with factory-trained personnel and warranties for their service well beyond the manufacturer’s standard. With a staff of over 30 employees and customers in all 50 states, LSI has proven not only to be a valuable dealer for ID card systems and supplies, but also a trusted service partner. By investing the time necessary to understand your needs and make recommendations accordingly, we will protect and advance your interests.

LSI’s ID Badge division is partnering with Test Express, Inc., a Memphis-based drug testing company, to develop a paperless drug test intended for use by construction companies. The test will not be certified by the Department of Transportation, due to the agency’s requirement that paper files be kept for years. However, LSI’s paperless test would meet the needs of many industries that don’t require the same hard copy documentation.

The paperless system allows faster processing of test results, dramatically cutting turnaround time while maintaining accuracy. It enables testers to scan an employee ID card and drug test cup prior to the test, and then again after the test to make sure the sample was not switched. The results are then digitally entered and e-mailed to the recipient. The whole process takes minutes, whereas traditional testing systems can take days.

LSI was recently recognized as a certified 3M™ graphics manufacturer, which means that all their 3M products are eligible for the 3M MCS™ Warranty. Qualification for this program requires rigorous quality control and strict adherence to 3M’s material, equipment and process guidelines.

This certification comes on the heels of LSI’s move to new headquarters. The Brother Boulevard facility is geared toward the production of wide format digital prints, including billboards, point of sale displays, trade show exhibits, and banners. The new space is especially well suited for LSI’s booming vehicle graphics business. LSI was contracted to wrap 53 18-wheelers for the National Guard, in addition to 5 SUV wraps and 50 rear taxi windows promoting the movie, Kick-Ass.

LSI recently landed a $1.5 million contract with an undisclosed department of the Federal Government to implement its innovative Badge Management System (BMS). This all-in-one software suite allows users to efficiently collect security clearances, fingerprints, photos and other pertinent identifying data; then issue associated ID badges for use in controlled-access areas.

Eventually, thousands of elected officials, members of the press, Capitol Hill staff, and vendors will be identified through the BMS. LSI has previously implemented Badge Management Systems for Lockheed Martin, Auburn University, the U.S. Army in Korea, and FBI locations in Quantico, VA, and Redstone Arsenal, AL.
